Contemplating "69"

Trying to figure out how to navigate around a roof and complete a funky mantle move just after this. The rock was steep and the crux was route finding. Several old fixed pins exist on this route -- natural pro is possible too. The route wanders quite a bit so slingage comes in handy! The route ends at a ledge -- you can see a tree on the ledge at the top of the picture. Have fun! I sure did.

stiff grades

One of my ice partners told me about the Gunks - he said the grades there are really stiff ! Apparently when he lived back east and climbed there it really raised his lead level ...

Well, I believe that for sure! I was thinkin' to myself -- geez Carolyn -- it's a 5.3. What are ya doin' gettin' gripped! It's such a playground, though. It's possible to TR the shorter routes as well. Big fun!
