My condolences, but......this is rich! Multiple pitchers the night before? Off your exercise regimen and out of shape? Late start? Well, of course you didn't make it! Having to turn around at 14,100 on a 14,270 mountain sounds like the worst vengeance of the mountain gods to me!

Re: My condolences, but...My thoughts exactly. The mountain decided to punish us for not preparing properly.

Agree with cftbqAdd to that the beer probably added to your overall dehydration picture. Alchohol is funny like that! Great pictures, though. Denver has more snow on the ground than the Ten Miles have! Thanks for the report.

Quandry is evil?I've been turned back on Quandary twice in winter. I'm starting to wonder if the mountain is conspiring against me. :-)

Re: Quandry is evil?Evil? Maybe. Conspiring? Absolutely. This is the second time Ive been turned around on Quandary (the other time in early summer on the west ridge due to hard ice) and Ive only made one successful summit bid. Going to try again later this month or in March, let me know if you want to join.

Ive had a few days like this, years ago.The pics are a little scrambled though on my computer (PICS 10,11,12,13) otherwise this was a great remember when for me and the pics are a great supplement to compliment this fine report.

liquid courageHigh aspirations but too much liquid courage! Looks like the snow was not prime either.
