Climbers arriving at camp 3,...

Climbers arriving at camp 3, 8300m/27000ft. In the back you see the Rongbuk glacier, 3000m/10,000ft lower, and Cho Oyu, 8201m, the 5th highest mountain on earth. Shot taken during waiting day during our successful 2005 expedition; at camp 3, wind was too hard the night before so we went for the summit the next night.

It's...

amazing just what natural processes can produce. Deposition + uplift + faulting + erosion = the greatest playground on earth. Given your 'Everest from Rongbuk after snow ' caption I should add that I can appreciate the spiritual side of mountains too. Great shot, I think it says a lot.
