Easy day hike
Easy day hike via cottonwood pass. A bit cooler than I expected up high--it never got above about 45 degrees, while it was about 70 in the parking lot. Go figure. A burger at WPS afterward, of course.

Route Climbed: Scramble over from High Lake Date Climbed: Sept. 9, 2000
From our High Lake camp, we took a route from the lake that involved some 3d class rock. Took us less than 2 hours. On the return, we followed the northwest ridge to New Army Pass and dropped back down along the switchbacks to High Lake.

Day hiked from Horseshoe Meadow. Left at 6:40, got back at 2:45. Super weather. Took a bunch of pictures, did something funny with the camera and only had one when I got back. It had to be that one
Route Climbed: Traverse from Langley Date Climbed: August 12, 2005
Interesting landscape at the summit plateau connecting Langley and Cirque. Saw a few jackrabbits in this very desolate terrain. Nothing tough, but just a long ridgeline traverse that was a lot longer than it seemed.
Route Climbed: West Ridge (traverse from Langley), down South Ridge to Cirque Lake Date Climbed: Oct 3, 2004
Langley-Cirque dayhike. I'm glad I expended the little extra energy to stop by the South Fork Lakes on the return, rather than following the drainage all the way down from Cirque Lake. The lakes were absolutely stunning--one of the more beautiful places I saw all summer in the Sierra. Great day.
Route Climbed: Normal route (sort of) Date Climbed: June 2000
I climbed this twice in one week: once by myself and once with my friend Mike as part of a traverse from Langley. I found several perfectly formed smokey quartz crystals.
Route Climbed: West Slope and Cirque Peak Traverse Date Climbed: Early 1990s and 27-JUL-1999
I've hiked this peak twice. The first time was in the early 1990's with partner Dave Patton. We hiked from Chicken Spring Lake around the Sierra crest to the sandy west slope, then up to the summit.
The second time, 27-JUL-1999, I did the Cirque Peak Traverse, starting at Horseshoe Meadow and hiking counterclockwise. Made for a long, satisfying day hike.

Went up New Army Pass - total bore. Descended via Old Army Pass to my camp at Cottonwood Lake #3 and found that a much more direct and fun route.

Route Climbed: Class 2 scramble up from High Lake Date Climbed: June 2, 2002New Army Pass had lots of snow and we hadn't brought ice axes or crampons, so we chose the more direct scramble up from the lake. Fun climb!
