I have only actually seen the Trinity Alps once and that was from Mt Shasta. I have always wanted to see more of them but there are not many books about them. Your photos were great to see to know more about a real gem in California. I hope you do more about this magical area sometime.
I am glad you enjoyed the page. I have a lot of Trinity Alps stuff in my que, but the Caribou page will be the last for a while, since I have a lot of other pages I have been wanting to complete for some time. If you ever make it out this way, give me a holler!
I would start in the morning. If you head out early, the sun will not pound you while make the initial climb out of the Salmon River Canyon. Other than that, you are on the north and east sides of the mountain, so you will be shaded. It is just the first stretch that can be brutal.

best time to hikeI assume that there are parts of the trail that have no shade coverage. What is the best recommended time of day to start hiking
the caribou trailhead
