Overview

Fox and Biglow canyons are located on the John Day river, just south of its mouth. There is a campsite with an outhouse, this was added in recent years. Other than than there isn't much there. It is a however, a good place to get away from things, not many people go down there. There are trails galor as well as opportunities for both fishing and boating. The best time to go is probaly spring when the fire hazard is low and everythign is still green.

Getting There

From I-84 take exit 109 go south on Sullivan ln, take a right on 1st street. Take a left on Scott Canyon Rd. Follow Scott canyon for about 3 miles, take a left on herrin ln. Follow this until you reach a four way intersection take a left, this should be Helms creek road. Helms Creek road will tak you to a "T" intersection, take a right onto Fox Rd. Fox road will lead you directly to the campsite. There will also be at least one cattle gate, it is a public road, but please be sure to close the gate.

Red Tape

Campsite is free, not many ammenities but part of its appeal is that it is pretty primative and the hiking is done mostly without trails!

Camping

NO trailer hook-up, no cost though either.
