Crisp late summer morning to climb Bushnell. Started at 2WD parking near Ferguson Creek. Road was in pretty good condition. Followed the decommissioned Forest Road to its end then headed up to the west ridge. Ridge was fun with some easy scrambling. Final Colorado County High Point!

CO County highpoint #40
From Brook Creek 4wd road. Took West Ridge directly from base (at old cabin remnants) to summit. Unrelentingly steep! Traversed over Twin Sisters, and back down into gully to gain top of mining road and back down. Unseasonable low amount of snow.

From the west
I went up the wrong road, then followed game trails up a ridge to the unnamed 12er south of Bushnell. Traversed the Twin Sisters, then returned via the (very) old road down Brook Creek. The other side definitely looked more scenic, with two cool glacial cirques around the Stout Creek and Bushnell Lakes.
Hayden Pass to N Decker Creek ridge run with Brian and Steve, collected 3 ranked 13ers, 6 ranked and 1 unranked 12ers. Lots of vertical, but "only" 15 miles, pretty efficient ridge!

Via Bushnell Lakes
Moderately steep trail hike to the Bushnell Lakes. Went up a steep loose scree slope to the east ridge and then on to the peak. Thunderstorms on the way back.

SW Ridge, winter-like conditions
Started from 9200 feet in the Brook Creek drainage. After gaining 1000 feet following the old road, climbed steeply but very efficiently to gain the SW ridge. Continued on to Twin Sisters, UN 12924 & Red Mountain.
The weather did not behave for us on the upper part of the mountain, but 2 of our group of 6 made it. We avoided any avy danger by ascending the s.w. ridge. A brutal climb that was made easier by good spring snow conditions most of the way until the final 1000', when the snow got too soft. I think this peak is easier in late spring with good snow conditions as you avoid the talus mess. A worthy county highpoint indeed.

Great snowshoe and climb with Ryan Schilling, Erin Burr and Kurt Traskos. Brook Creek was running, we had to cross it several times, steep snowshoe to the ridge, excellent early spring hike.
Route Climbed: east side, via Bushnell Lakes Date Climbed: August 2004
Solo climb. The day was cut short by a 90-minute hailstorm. Lengthy approach from Hayden Creek Campground to Bushnell Lakes, followed by a nice ridge climb to the summit. All in all, a very scenic climb.

Route Climbed: Southwest Ridge Date Climbed: April 9, 2005Though it can be a tedious talus climb during the summer, for our group the route up the southwest ridge was a fun climb on good spring snow.
