AwesomeUnfortunately, there is much less ice in the Black Ice Couloir these days. Last summer I looked into the upper Couloir and found almost no ice. The Greenhouse effect has had profound influence on the Tetons. My pictures from the 80s show entirely different range as opposed to pictures and sights of the range last summer. I was shocked to see this once alpine range to be mostly rock. This does not bode well for the possibility of good ice in BIC.

I first Climbed the Black IceI first climbed the Black Ice col. in the early 80's and I understand there is almost no ice in it now .I enjoy your picture it takes me back 25 years ago.

Re: I first Climbed the Black IceThe Tetons these days look lot less alpine than those (25 or so) years ago. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the range last year. Still, good place to be. Thanks for the comments.

The same is going on in the WindsI was up in the Wind Rivers last summer and the same is going on up there. There are passes up there where you used to have to use crampons and ice axes now they are just loose rocks. The glaciers are receeding rapidly up there . The upper Green River by Square Top Mt. is full of glacier silt. I still love it up there also you have to watch out for the Grizzley Bears.
