Big Kangaroo is the big wall...

Big Kangaroo is the big wall near the right edge of the frame, just below the horizon, in this spectacular view toward the west from the south summit of North Gardner Mtn. A high and rugged portion of the North Cascades is arrayed behind Kangaroo Ridge. The highest peaks on the horizon from left are Mt. Goode, 9,200+ feet, Mt. Buckner, est. 9,114 feet, Forbidden Peak, 8,815 feet, Black Peak, 8,970 feet, and Mt. Logan, 9,087 feet, which Klenke apparently hasn't climbed yet or it would not be the last remaining Washington 9er not submitted to SP! Surely some of you other guys have climbed Logan! Wow!

What a neat shot, I've looked across many times at the Gardners (from Kangaroo Ridge) but never made a trip there. This photo proves what I've always thought I would find from the summit, now I'll just have to go and climb it. Thanks for adding a great photo.

Re: Wow!

You're more than welcome. That was one of the all-time best days I've experienced in the mountains, partly because of that perfectly clear air that gave us views from Stuart to Redoubt. Unfortunately many of my slides were a bit too dark for my film scanner to handle well. With this one I found a technique that I may be able to use on some of the others, but many of them I'm sure are too dark.

I'm enjoying all your great submissions - keep it up!

Re: Wow!

Only one man on this site creates more imbedded links than me and that would be Bob Bolton. You could say his caption above is Boltonesque.

A smattering of WA peaks that really need pages on this site:

White Chuck Mountain, Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Logan, Kangaroo Temple, Ruby Mountain, Cathedral Peak, Johannesburg Mountain, Mt. Formidable, Spider Mountain, Sentinel Peak, Spire Point, Big Chiwaukum, Mt. Terror, Mt. Blum, Bacon Peak, Mt. Wow, Dumbell Mountain.

There are many others. A few of these I could put up right now but I'm lazy or have personal reasons not to.

It's nice that we have three SP newcomers creating WA pages with regularity: Derek, Eric, and Yogi.

Re: Wow!

Actually, I might characterize this caption as slightly Klenke-esque, given that I believe he got the link count ranking backwards.

That's a fine list of needed pages. I haven't climbed any of them, and would probably not put up pages for them if I had, but I'd like to see all of them. I've got photos of Formidable, Spider, Sentinel, Spire, Logan, Johannesburg, and Dumbell if anyone needs them. Logan is the top prize IMO, it being the only remaining 9er.
