"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Hot dayWe climbed this after we got stormed off of Breitenbach. The lava flows made it fun to navigate, but the heat wasn't a lot of fun. We went through the rest of the park that day too.

Forgotten PeakYou know I climbed this, a lifetime ago. I'm guessing on the date. I was out there skate skiing or trying to. They never did a good job of grooming out there and eventually I stopped trying to go out there. Ended up climbing the "peak" as a consolation prize for not being able to ski. I don't remember much other than the conditions were calm and comfortable, albeit snow covered. I don't remember route finding so i suspect they don't groom out there anymore. ?

Re: Forgotten PeakThey definitely didn't have anything groomed within 3 miles of the peak. Getting up the peak itself wasn't too bad as far as route finding goes but since we did a loop with other peaks we had to cross some of the nasty lava flows to get back to the road without climbing the peak again.

Long slogZach and I did this as part of a winter loop/peak bagging trip. There was no evidence that anyone had been there yet this winter. A fun trip with lots of route finding difficulties on the way back due to the lava.
