I spotted Barney again. I hadn't seen him since last year quite a few miles away. He was feasting on blueberries. I snapped this photo about 150 yards away. I wanted to get closer for a better shot but he ran off. He doesn't seem to want to make friends with me. Sept. 2, 2007.

On this same trip I saw another bear on a distant grassy slope maybe two miles away. So yes, they are (and would be) all over these hillsides during prime blueberry season (late August and early September).
