"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Wowzers!I think I underestimated this one a little. Having no information other than being in the area before and a sentence or two from OMCG, this one was more difficult than I had thought. The trail was easy, but the bushwacking was rough. Not to bad by bushwacking standards, but there was left over rain drops/ morning dew on all the plants so I got SOAKED! The first section took over 1hr 45min to go about 1 mile. The scramble up to the saddle was relative uneventful but it took some route finding to get across the icy snow patch, eventually I settled on walking the knife edge of the snow moat.
From the saddle to the summit was much more complex than I had anticipated. More route finding, several go up a few moves... no too difficult, find another route... too difficult, find another route before I finally made my way up the gully. OMCG says 3 hours from the Tunnel Creek Shelter to the summit and that's about exactly what it took me which I though I had gone fairly slow especially with all the route finding. My lack of speed cost me some views as it was clear when I was at the saddle, but clouds had started to roll in by the time I got to the summit. I still did get some good views though so not a total dissappointment. The way down was more annoying bushwacking with some game trails to follow. I was really happy to get back to the trail. All in all it took me 8 hours car to car with 30 minutes at the summit, 5 hours of which were bushwacking/cross country.
This one is interesting for me since I remember hating all the bushwacking with my legs and shoes soaked but when I look back on the trip I remember it fondly and I'm happy I went. "Euphoric recall" one of my relatives called, but this was a good trip for me. I enjoyed April Peak.
