GND?Hey Kane, How goes it, man? Long time no drink beer together.
Fantastic stuff you have been up to this summer, with the usual stunning photos and enjoyable write ups.
Are you using a GND filter these days, or are you learning HDR techniques from guru Jim?
Whatever, nice work.
Take care.

Re: GND?Yep, I was using a GND, I think its a two stop filter. Currently I don't have the ability to run Photoshop or any high dynamic range techniques but it shouldn't be long. Next season I plan on shooting a D-80. Should be fun.
Yes, it has been a long time Nelson. I asked Aaron about you a few weeks back and he said that you were laying low for a while. With shorter days and longer nights coming, I'm thinking we all need to get together and talk mountains...over a few beers of course. Did you and Aaron hike up Thatchtop? I was looking forward to hearing what Aaron thought about Shelf Lake. Beautiful place.

Re: GND?Aaron, Ellen and I made it up to Shelf Lake on Saturday. The weather was unsettled all morning - rain and cold wind, not the day to scramble up something. But yes, Shelf Lake was absoultely spectacular, one of the most dramatic places I've been in RMNP, on par with Chasm Lake. Definitely going back there.
D-80 next season, you'll be producing even more great work! Those GND filters are awesome. I've had a two-stop one for years, but didn't carry it around too much. I decided to bring it with me into the Winds last month. Man, was I glad I did.
The only problem now is that I need a three stop filter! I was still getting highlight clipping on many shots. Here is a nice thread comparing the various options:

See you around,
