Edelweiss

Edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum) belongs to the sunflower family (Asteraceae). The names means: edel (in English means nobel) and weiss ( in English means white).

It grows from the size 3-30cm. We find them in the rocky limestone places at 2000-2900 m altitude. They bloom from July to September.

Edelweiss is a protected plant in many countries (Slovenia, Italia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia and some others).
