Polish Mountains Flora

The purpose of this album is to present the beauty of all the plants that one can encounter during their visit to the Polish mountains and to help with identifying them.

The three main mountain ranges in Poland are:
The Carpathians
The Sudetan Mountains
and The Mountains of the Holy Cross.

All of them have very beautiful and diverse flora.

There are over 2300 species of vascular (ferns, conifers and flowering) plants in Poland. 430 of them can be only found in the mountains. There are also 600 species of moss and as many as 1600 different species of lichen.

Oak and Yew are some of the oldest trees in Poland, many of which are from 700 to 1000 years old. There are also some 400 year old Elm trees, Ash trees and the Swiss Pines. Many beautiful Douglas-firs reach the height of 50 meters.

Some species of plants that grow in the Polish mountains are endemic, such as for example: Poa nobilis, Saxifraga perdurans, Laserpitium, and Euphrasia tatrae.

Enjoy the photos and feel free to attach your own.

Thanks Henryk for taking the time to take so many pictures and creating this nice album.

Maybe provide links to the endemic plants (Poa nobilis, Saxifraga perdurans, Laserpitium, and Euphrasia tatrae) you mention in the text?
