WildI too love being out when it's like this. There's something primal about being able to withstand, and at the same time enjoy scenes and conditions like this - especially better when a gale is blowing.

Re: WildYour are right - a meditative state does come amidst peril. I read much about being "in the zone" - more recently called "Flow State". I read Mihály Csíkszentmihályi (Flow State - Wikipedia). Also experienced Flow State in competetive sport - utterly empowering experience to find your abilities reach this heightened level.

Re: WildCool. I'm surprised the article does not mention Rock Climbing under sports. I do get the Flow State while climbing and it is good.

Flow StatePity it's not mentioned. The part of Flow I find the most pleasurable is the time dilation. My first experience of Flow happened spontaneously, and I had no idea what it was, but sure realised the performance aspect.
