I don't see any mention of it here, but are coca leaves available in Mendoza? In Peru and Ecuador I drank mate de coca nightly while hiking and never had any trouble with altitude. But this is a little south of Inca country and I don't know if they will be available.
I have used some on the mountain but I don't think it was local. From Peru I think. I know the mule providers have some at times. But I have never made it a point of seeking it out in Mendoza. So I can't say for sure.
Weather can be a bit colder. One year it can be great the next no so. Bit like the rest of the time. But Ive had better weather sometimes in December and the worst in February when its supposed to be better. So its a tossup sometimes no matter when you go. I prefer to get it over before the crowds after New Years. But with the permit increases More people may be going early to save on the cost.
Cheers William

December climbingHow is the weather generally in December? I was thinking of going in January but it would suit my schedule better to go earlier.
