thought I might get your attention with this one Brian. Yeah it was a fun route but the rating of 5.7 is probably too "optimistic" for those looking for sustained climbing.......much scrambling with steps up to 5.6 I'd estimate.
It actually does not take much time since it's easy and most pro consists of new bolts...still, fun easy outing.
Let me know what beta you need.
Thanks for submitting the photos....gonna go do some votin' now.
Glad to hear it's easier than expected. Was it worth the long drive down there though? I remember meeting Mark and Natasha down there as I was in the area doing something else and it happened to work out. I remember driving up every stinking road around that rock the nighyt before for hours trying to find them. I tried every dirt track on the south and east sides before finding the right one up the north side. The day we were there it was like 95 degrees too.
Excellent job and looks like a fun day in the sun. I think I will make this one a must do next fall so I will have to pick your brain next season. If you would be interested in doing it again as allways it would be a joy to get together. In fact you said there are other options in the area maybe rent the lookout for a few days?
good to hear from you. I'm sorry - we made a call to go there last minute (family was coming for 2 weeks next day and we decided to squeeze this one in instead of Smith).
We're thinking of getting together - our place for dinner or something in week after Thanksgiving timeframe. I know your work schedule is slightly different. What day of the workweek would work for you (& what time)?
Just saw this post a little late. I do not check the message area of this site much so sorry I missed the post. I started looking around to see what you have been up to since Jeff said you had been doing some rather long, but nice trips. I see you have been busy. ASI this year?
Did Reid Headwall Friday with Monty. It was suppose to be a Leuthold climb, however, at the last minute we decided to go on an exploratory of the Ried Headwall route. What a climb 18 hours of climbing & route finding. Found a few dead ends etc. Summited about 9:00pm in the moonlight. Back to the lot by Midnight. Kind of a pre ASI adventure. Are you and Shirley taking ASI this year?
