A surreal sunrise above Quito with Cotopaxi in the background, taken from Guagua Pinchincha summit rim (c4400m) while vomitting with altitude sickness! AMAZING shot!

WOW, the colors, the depth, the clouds, everything is perfect. It illustrates very well altitude difference and distance between Quito and Cotopaxi, really a great 3D feeling. Outstanding!

thank you, this pic always gets a good gasp from audiences at lectures - but i dont think weve put it anywhere on the net before. Im amazed it tuirned out at all - i was violently ill this night from alt sickness, like the worst i have ever been in my life. It wasnt much fun, and i can hardly remember the view.
