Looks like an Ibex

or Steinbok to me.

Thank you for the correction. I'd asked a local what I'd seen up there, trying to describe it, and they called it a chamois. Do they look similar?

Yes, doing a bit of research just now, they look quite different.

According to Wikipedia, the steinbok live in Africa. I suppose this is where they originated from. Are they not native to Europe?

Africa? I've never heard that!
Maybe some subspecies... Steinbock is the german name (in italian "stambecco", in slovenian "kozorog"). Its scientific name is "capra ibex"
