Your day reminds me a lot of my experience two weeks prior. I remember making use of my fingernails to get to that saddle, and I, too, ditched the right branch of Tanners to go straight up the south face. Nice write-up, and great photos: your early start really helped with the lighting compared to my trip, and the air looks so clear and fresh!
