Always....Your photos of this area make me want to drop what I am doing and go climbing there right away. Talk about enticing. Hard to believe that such a beautiful place is in Utah.....thanks for posting this one and happy trails out there.

Re: Always....Happy trails to you too! It would be interesting to know how many people get to the top of some of these peaks and if anyone goes there in the winter.

Re: Wait - A - Minute....WHY would a person find it "hard to believe"
that such a beautiful place can be found in
Utah ???
Wintertime in the Uintas? I suppose that
can be beautiful, and this guy can tell you
if anybody goes there..
"Hey Twins, is that you ??? ??"

Re: Wait - A - Minute....I have already been talking with my backcountry skiing crew and the steep couloirs of Mt. Gilbert, Anne Peak's Queen Cirque, Red Castle and a possible Mt Powell are on next years Uinta agenda. The appeal......steep skiing, winter camping at its best and perhaps the greatest reason.....the vast remoteness of the area.

Re: Wait - A - Minute....Cool! I hope you guys actually do it. I've noticed that winter camping trips in the Uintas have a way of falling through. A few Aprils ago, a group of us touring skiers skied to the top of Coffin Peak (12673) just east of Anne and got to view Queens Cirque. It looked very cool indeed.

Re: Wait - A - Minute....I saw that album a few days ago and it looked amazing. I had heard about the skiing up there but I had no clue till just yesturday that one of my skiing buddies has been up to Gilbert and Powell before.
Avalanche conditions, wild weather and a long drive make this area a hard "sell" to those who would otherwise ski something much closer. Your pictures helped in the perswasion of my partners......and myself to ski this area. Thanks for posting so many winter pictures of the area and happy trails out there.

I already know......from all of the wonderful pictures I've seen here on SP that Utah is indeed a unique place, and I feel the same about your photo as what TyeDyeTwins said - it gives me the pang of desire!!

Re: I already know...Utah is an amazing place due to its variety of terrain. I grew up in Pennsylvania which is pretty much the same from one end of the state to the other, trees, trees, and more trees.

Re: I already know...I grew up in Tooele, Utah..
Each winter was pretty much the same: snow,
snow and more snow.
If you're a skier, winter mountaineer or
just a funny snow bunny, northern Utah IS the place to be! !!
